Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong Museum of Art｜Proudly from Canton: The Muwen Tang Collection of Cantonese and Export Art

The Hong Kong Museum of Art has recently received a landmark donation of over 2,000 Cantonese and export artworks from Muwen Tang, marking the largest single gift in the Museum’s history. To honour this gift, the Museum has designated the “Muwen Tang Gallery of Cantonese and Export Art” to display this important collection and will host a series of exhibitions.

The inaugural exhibition features over 120 representative sets of artworks, encompassing over ten distinct categories such as Qing dynasty export paintings, silverware, painted enamels, fans, ivory carvings, textiles, lacquerware and timepieces. From imperial tributes and local demand to export goods, these artworks chart the golden age of Guangdong’s artistic achievements.

The exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organizing an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
